How do I get started with the courseware as a teacher?

Updated on

Welcome to the Toon Boom Animation StartingPoint Courseware! As a teacher, you will be assigned as a Team Lead to have control over your classroom on the courseware platform. This article will walk you through what you can do and the steps on how to get started.

What is a Team Lead?

When your school purchases the StartingPoint Courseware, our team will set up your classroom on the platform and assign you as the Team Lead. In this role, you can independently manage your classroom directly from your dashboard without relying on Toon Boom.

As a Team Lead, you can:

  • Add students to your class (one by one or through a bulk CSV import)
  • Reset student passwords
  • Edit student information
  • View student progress and reports

Step 1: Log into the courseware platform

  1. Go to courseware.toonboom.com.
  2. On the Login page, enter the login credentials you received via email from the platform.
  3. Click Submit.

NOTE: If you did not receive a login email, check your spam folder. Some school email servers block external emails. If you still cannot find it, contact us at desk@toonboom.com.

Step 2: Find your Team dashboard

  1. Once logged in, you will see your personal dashboard with the courses assigned to you:

  1. In the left-hand navigation, find the Progress team dashboard to manage your students.

  1. From here, you can view your class roster, add new students, and access student progress reports.

Step 3: Download your materials and explore the courseware

Your courseware includes learning modules, assignments, quizzes, video media, and more. Each module is designed to help students build a solid base in 2D animation and/or storyboarding. Take a moment to familiarise yourself with the courseware content.

  • In your left-hand navigation, click the Teacher Materials button for your course or courses. On this page you will find a button that gives you access to the course materials for teachers. These materials must not be shared with anyone else under any circumstance (with the exception of the lesson files which is a back up for you and students).

  • The courseware is designed to be self-guided. You do not have to cover every lesson or teach them in a specific order. You can pick and choose what works best for your students.
  • Both you and your students will have access to the courseware for 12 months from your start date.
NOTE: Although the courseware is self-guided, it is recommended to cover all lessons and topics if your students are preparing to take the Associate exam.

Step 4: Next steps

Now that you are set up, you can start adding students and learning more about the platform:
