This article highlights step-by-step the procedure to return a borrowed license to a license server.
Step 1: Open the Toon Boom Activation Wizard
- Open your Toon Boom software, or do one of the following:
- In Windows: On your desktop, use the Windows key and search for “License Wizard”. Click on the result to open the Toon Boom Activation Wizard.
- In macOS: Open the Spotlight search by pressing ⌘ + Space. Search for “License Wizard”. Click on the result to open the Toon Boom Activation Wizard.
- The Toon Boom Activation Wizard will appear:

Step 2: Open the Local License Manager
- At the bottom of the Activation Wizard Welcome screen, click on the Manage Licenses button.
- The License Management window will open.
- Click on Manage Local Licenses:
- The License Manager window will open in a separate window.
Step 3: Return the license
- In the License Manager window, click on the Product Name that corresponds with the license that you want to return. The product will become highlighted.
- Click on the Return button.
- A window will appear confirming that the return of the license is complete.
- Press OK. The return process will be completed.
- The license is returned and the product is no longer activated.
NOTE: The license may also be returned by entering commands in a command prompt window, also referred to as a terminal window. This can be useful if you want to script the return procedure to automate the configuration of clients.
