If your school uses disk imaging to set up several computers at once, there are a few things to know about how this interacts with Toon Boom licenses.
Imaging before activation
The simplest way to image computers is to do it before any Toon Boom license is activated on them:
- Install the software and create the image first.
- Activate the license only after the image has been deployed to each computer.
| NOTE: A single activation key can be activated only once. If you clone or image a computer while its license is already activated, the license will not work correctly on the copies. |
Imaging a computer with an activated license
If a computer already has an activated license and needs to be imaged, the license must be returned first.
- Return the license from the computer. For more info, see How do I return a license via the internet? or How do I return a v2 license?
- Image the computer once the license has been returned.
- Reactivate/activate the license once imaging is complete.
| WARNING: A server (floating) license becomes obsolete if it is returned and cannot be activated again. Contact us before imaging a computer that uses a server license. |
Using a license server to avoid the issue
If activating each computer individually is not practical for your school, a floating license through a license server lets you image computers without managing activation on each one. See What are the different types of licenses? for more information.
