Why do I see different expiration dates in the License Wizard 2.0 and the Local License Manager?

Updated on

Sometimes you may see a contradiction in the expiration dates shown between the Local License License Manager and the Manage Licenses page of the License Wizard 2.0. The reason for this has to do with license server functionality.

The date in the Local License Manager

This date shows the expiration of the local license activation, and not the full term license expiration. When activating a license, the local expiration date is typically set to 5 days after the day of activation. Once this set date is reached, the License Wizard will automatically attempt to connect to Toon Boom’s servers to re-activate the license. If this occurs before the final expiration date listed on the server, then the license will automatically re-activate locally.

This process is necessary to ensure that licenses may be remotely returned, and to guarantee their fair use.

The date in the Manage Licenses page of the License Wizard 2.0

This date is the final expiration date of the license term. If the date in the Local License Manager is getting close to this date, it will soon be time to renew your license.
