This article explains how to renew your license through the COE Student Portal if you are enrolled in a recognized Toon Boom Centre of Excellence (COE) school.
| NOTE: COE student licenses are 1-year licenses and must be renewed annually for the duration of your eligibility in the COE Student Program. |
Step 1: Sign in to the COE Student Portal
- Go to the COE Student Portal.
- Either in the top-right corner of the page or under the first step on the page, click Sign In.
- You will be redirected to the Toon Boom login page.
- In the designated fields, enter your E-mail and Password.
- Click the Sign In button.
- You will be redirected back to the COE Student Portal.
Step 2: Renew your COE student license
| NOTE: You can renew your license only if you still have remaining eligibility in the COE Student Program. |
- At the bottom of the COE Student Portal page, click Download Now.
- You will be redirected to the software download page. On this page, you can view the amount of time remaining in your COE Student Program and the status of your licenses.
- Click Renew Now.
- The page will refresh automatically. If you still have remaining eligibility in the COE Student Program, you will see updated expiration dates and software download links.
Step 3: Activate your renewed COE student license
- In your product panel, click the download link for your operating system.
- Follow the steps in How do I activate my license via the internet? to activate your renewed license.
Once activation is complete, you can continue using the Toon Boom product with your renewed COE student license.

Question 1:
My eligibility in the COE Student Program has expired, but I am still a student. What should I do?
Answer:
If you have extended your studies, your eligibility must be manually extended.

Question 2:
How do I know if my school participates in the Centre of Excellence Program?
Answer:
Please refer to the Toon Boom Centre of Excellence presentation page, which lists participating institutions.
Question 3:
I am a teacher and my eligibility in the COE Program has expired. What should I do?
Answer:
Please contact our Customer Success team at success@toonboom.com and let them know that you are a teacher. Your profile can be updated to Teacher status, which prevents you from reaching the program duration limit and eliminates the need to request annual extensions.
