In some cases you realize too late that a node or drawing element is inside the wrong group. Instead of losing all the work that might have gone into the node, there are ways to move it to where you want it to be. The following instructions will walk you through the process.
Option 1: Drag and drop in the Timeline view
When using the Timeline view, you can drag and drop the layers in and out of the group:
- In the Timeline view, locate and select the layers you want to move.
- Click and drag the layers to where you want them to be. Look for a blue line indicator before dropping them otherwise you may end up dropping them on another group or layer:
- The same method can be used to pull outside layers into an open group. You can also drop layers directly onto a collapsed group for the same effect.
| NOTE: When layers are dragged and dropped into a group, Harmony will automatically connect the new layers to pegs and composites based on where they were dropped. You can easily adjust the placement/connections of the layers in the Node view when necessary. |
Option 2: Use cut and paste in the Node view
When using the Node view, simply use cut and paste to move the element.
- In the Node view, select the nodes that you want to relocate.
- Use the hotkey Ctrl + X (Windows/Linux) or ⌘ + X (macOS) to cut the nodes.
- In the Node view, navigate to the location where you want to move the nodes to and press Ctrl + V (Windows/Linux) or ⌘ + V (macOS) to paste them.
- If necessary, reconnect the nodes to a composite and pegs.
