When adding breakdowns between your keyframes sometimes you will find that your following drawing substitutions change when you don’t want them to. To prevent this, you need to work with Key Exposures. Here’s how to activate them.
For more information, see About Key Exposures.
Option 1: Activate the Key Exposure preference
If you want to automatically have key exposures applied as you work, activate this preference.
- In the top menu, do one of the following:
- In Windows, click Edit > Preferences…
- In macOS click Harmony Premium/Advanced > Preferences…
- In the Timeline tab, under the Drawing Substitution section, tick the box next to Create Key Exposure.
- When done, press OK.
- Now whenever you change a substitution drawing, it will create a key exposure, preventing previous drawings from overwriting it.
Option 2: Create a Key Exposure manually
If you want to set your own key exposures, use this technique.
-
In the Timeline view, do one of the following:
- If you want to create many key exposures throughout a rig, close the timeline up to the desired level. Close the whole timeline if you want to affect all layers.
-
If you want to affect a single layer, make sure your timeline is opened up to that layer so that you can select a single frame.
- Select the frame where you would like to create the key exposure/s.
- In the Timeline view toolbar, select the Add Key Exposure
button.
- This will add a key exposure on the same frame of all selected drawing layers.
