Option 1: Applying eases to multiple keyframes on one or many layers
- In the Timeline view, use Shift and click to select the range of keyframes that you want to apply the same ease to.
- You can apply this to many layers by creating the selection from the top left to the bottom right, or vice versa.
- In the Timeline View toolbar, add an ease to all selected keyframes in one of the following ways:
- With the Quick Ease-In
or Quick Ease-Out
buttons.
- With the Quick Ease
button.
- With Set Ease on Selected Keyframes
button.
- With the Set Ease Type dropdown box.
Option 2: Applying eases to multiple keyframes in a rig hierarchy
When working with a rig, simply closing and opening the timeline can change how many frames you affect.
- In the Timeline view, collapse the timeline layers by pressing 0 on the keyboard. This will collapse all layers and sublayers.
- Make sure that key poses are keyframed all the way through, especially if you want them to have eases on that keyframe throughout the rig. Do this by selecting the frame on the Master peg when the timeline is closed, and using the Insert Keyframe
button or F6.
- Make sure all keyframes are interpolated in the correct places.
-
To make your selection, do one of the following:
- To affect all layers in the rig, make a selection on the Master peg layer. Selecting a single keyframe will still affect all keyframes on the same frame throughout the rig.
- To affect a subsection of the rig, open up the timeline to the top hierarchy peg of that section, but leave the rest closed. Then make your selection on that peg. This will affect any keyframes on the same frame in the closed section beneath the peg. For example, you can affect all layers in the head by keeping the Head Master peg closed and making your selection there.
-
In the Timeline View toolbar, add an ease to all selected keyframes in one of the following ways:
- With the Quick Ease-In
or Quick Ease-Out
buttons.
- With the Quick Ease
button.
- With Set Ease on Selected Keyframes
button.

- With the Set Ease for Multiple Parameters
dialog box. See Set Ease for Multiple Parameters Dialog Box for more information.

Q&A
Question:
Why don’t I see a change when the ease is applied?
Answers:
- Check that the keyframes are all different. If two or more keyframes are exactly the same, an ease cannot be applied.
- If you are using the Set Ease for Multiple Parameters dialog box, make sure you click Apply before closing the dialog.
- Make sure a keyframe or keyframes are selected when you apply the ease.
Question:
Why didn’t my ease apply all the way through the rig?
Answers:
- Make sure all the layers you want the ease to be applied to have a keyframe on that specific frame.
- Make sure the rig is closed up correctly. Multiple layers will only be affected if they are closed into one peg.
Question:
Why is the Set Ease for Multiple Parameters dialog box blank when I open it?
Answer:
A keyframe must be selected before opening the dialog box. If no keyframe is selected, it will be blank.
