The Node view can sometimes become a bit overwhelming. These shortcuts and tips will help you navigate the Node view a bit quicker.
General Navigation
The shortcuts used in other views in Harmony also work in the Node view and can help you move around the view quickly:
- Pan: Holding the Spacebar activates the Hand
tool, allowing you to easily pan around the Node view.
- Zoom: Use the shortcuts 1 and 2, or use the scroll wheel on the mouse, to zoom in and out of the Node view.
Use a shortcut to find a specific element
If you are struggling to find a specific part or peg in the Node view, try the following:
- In the Camera, Xsheet or Timeline view, select the element you want to find.
- Hover over the Node view (or select it).
- Use the O shortcut to automatically jump to the selection. This works better if the Node view is somewhat zoomed in.
| TIP: The ‘O’ shortcut also helps to find elements in the Timeline view. |
Move up and down the hierarchy
Use the following shortcuts to move up and down the hierarchy:
- B will go up the chain.
- Shift + B will go down the chain.
Move between columns
Use the following shortcuts to move left and right in the Node view:
- J will move to the right.
- H will move to the left.
Entering and exiting groups
To enter a group, do one of the following:
- Use the shortcut Shift + Enter to enter a selected group.
- Select the arrow on the right side of the group.
To exit a group, do one of the following:
- Use the shortcut Shift + Ctrl + Enter (Linux/Windows) or Shift + ⌘ + Return (macOS).
- Select the arrow at the top of the Node view.
- In the bottom left corner of the Node view, select a level in the path to take you to another group up or down. The Top level will take you outside any and all groups.
Use the Search bar to find an element
Using the Search bar in the bottom right corner of the Node view, type a name/partial name of an element and press Enter.
