In a scenario where you might have to change the properties of multiple nodes it would be incredibly daunting to change all those properties of several nodes individually. There is a method that allows for quick and easy changes, and the following steps will walk you through the process.
Step 1: Select the nodes you want to apply changes on
- Open or locate the Node view.
- In the Node view, select the nodes you want to apply the changes to by doing one of the following:
- Clicking and drag the mouse around a collection of nodes to select them
- To select specific nodes, or to add nodes to an existing selection, hold the Ctrl/Cmd key and drag a selection or click on single nodes.
Step 2: Open the Set Properties on Many Layers dialog box
- In the Node View toolbar, click on the Set Properties on Many Layers
button.
- The Set Properties on Many Layers dialog box appears:
Step 3: Select the properties you want to apply
- In the Set Properties on Many Layers dialog, you will see a list of available options that can be adjusted. Selecting As Is will leave the property unchanged. The options are as follows:
- 3D path or Separate Mode: Changes the peg between a Separate or a 3D path.
- Use Embedded Pivot: If you want the selected drawing nodes to apply their embedded pivot on themselves (Drawing), on their parent peg (Parent Peg) or not at all (Do Not Use).
- Overlay/Line Art/Colour Art/Underlay: These four options allow you to enable or disable the corresponding art layers.
- Animate Using Animation Tools: Allows you choose between manipulating and animating the selected drawing nodes with the animation tools.
- Composite Mode: Allows you to switch selected Composite nodes between As Bitmap and Pass Through.
- Click on the OK button when you are done.
WARNING: If there is animation and the peg mode is changed from 3D path to Separate (or vice versa), any keyframed animation will be lost. |
NOTE: Every time the Set Properties on Many Layers dialog is opened, it will always look the same - with everything set to As Is. This does not mean your properties have been reset, but simply that they are now the default As Is option (the last setting that was applied to them). |
Q&A
Question:
I realized after I hit the OK button I changed something I shouldn’t have, what do I do?
Answers:
- Harmony’s undo steps recognise Set Properties on Many Layers adjustments as one action, so using the ctrl + Z (Windows/Linux) or ⌘ + Z (Mac) will work, provided there are enough undo steps available.
- Reselect the nodes and repeat the steps to update the properties to the desired settings.
