The exposure of substitution drawings in Harmony can easily be removed from the Timeline view, however this will not permanently delete the drawing from the library. This is to prevent you from accidentally removing any drawings that may need to be reused later. However, sometimes you may want to permanently delete a substitution drawing to clean up the library when using assets like rigs. The following steps will show you how.
Option 1: Use the Drawing Substitutions view
- In the Timeline or Xsheet view, select the drawing layer that contains the drawings you’d like to edit.
- Open the Drawing Substitutions view by doing one of the following:
- In the top-menu, select Windows > Drawing Substitutions.
- In any view window, select the Add View
button and choose Drawing Substitutions.
- In the top right of the Drawing Substitutions view, click on the Edit Mode
button to allow for changes.
- The view thumbnails will turn red to indicate that you are editing. Selecting thumbnails in this mode will not activate them on the timeline.
- Select one or many drawings to delete.
- Right click and select Delete Selected Drawings.
- The drawings will be permanently deleted from that layer’s library.
- To stop editing, click the Editing Mode
button again. The thumbnails will no longer be red.
Option 2: Use the Xsheet view
- In the Xsheet view, locate the drawing layer that contains the drawings you’d like to edit. You do not have to select the whole layer/column.
- Click on an exposed frame of the drawing you'd like to delete. If there isn’t one, you will have to recall the drawing from the library first by doing one of the following:
- In the Drawing Substitutions view, select the drawing thumbnail.
- Use the hotkeys [ and ] until the desired drawing appears in the Camera view.
- If you’d like to delete more than one drawing, make sure they are all exposed on the layer and use Shift and select to highlight them in the Xsheet view.
- In the Xsheet view, right click and select Drawings > Delete Selected Drawing/s.
- The drawings will be permanently deleted from that layer’s library.
| NOTE: Deleting a drawing substitution does not renumber the remaining substitutions. If you need to renumber a sequence, see Renaming Drawings for more about renaming drawing substitutions. |
