How do I reset a position on X, Y or Z back to default?

Updated on

Option 1: Use the Advanced Animation tools

Use this technique if you would only like to reset one type of transformation (position, rotation, sizing, skewing), or all transformations.

  1. In the Advanced Animation toolbar, select the tool that corresponds with the aspect you want to reset:
    • Translatetool (reset position)
    • Rotatetool (reset rotation)
    • Scaletool (reset size)
    • Skewtool (reset skewing)
  2. In the Timeline, Node or Camera view, select the pegs or drawing layers that need to be reset.
  3. Use the hotkey R to reset the transformation based on the chosen Advanced Animation tool.
  4. Use the hotkeys Shift + R to reset all transformations.

Option 2: Use the Transform tool

Use this technique if you would like to reset all types of transformations.

  1. In the Tools toolbar, select the Transformtool.
  2. In the Timeline, Node or Camera view, select the pegs or drawing layers that need to be reset.
  3. Use the hotkeys R or Shift + R to reset all transformations.

Option 3: Use the Coordinate toolbar

Use this technique if you would like to reset any type of transformation using values.

  1. Open the Coordinate toolbar by doing one of the following:
    • In any toolbar space, right-click and select Coordinate.
    • In the top-menu, select Windows > Toolbar > Coordinate.

  1. In the Timeline, Node or Camera view, select the pegs or drawing layers that need to be reset.
  2. In the Coordinate toolbar, all of the position values will be seen in the relevant fields. All positions except skew will have a field for the X, Y and Z value (in that order). Some fields may be greyed out depending on whether 3D is enabled or not.

  1. In the Coordinates toolbar, manually type the following numbers to reset the following positions. Press Enter to commit each change:
    • Translatefields: 0
    • Rotationfields: 0
    • Skewfield: 0
    • Scalingfields: 1
NOTE: The starting default for all transformations in Harmony are 0 or 1. Keep these values in mind when resetting transformations.

Q&A

Question:

I have a drawing selected but I can’t seem to reset its position?

Answer:

Does the drawing have a peg? Try selecting and resetting that instead. If the drawing isn’t using an embedded pivot, there won’t be any information to reset on the drawing.
