If you need to add a colour wash over multiple swatches in a palette, or an entire palette, you can use the Tint Panel feature. This option does not give you specific control over individual colours, but rather a unified colour application over multiple swatches. This is great for night time, weather and fireside variations of a palette.
Option 1: Clone the palette
Depending on your needs, you may want to clone the palette before tinting the colours. To find out more, see How do I make multiple palettes with different colours for a single character?
Step 1: Tint the palette or swatches
- In the Colour view, right click on the palette you want to tint.
- In the pop-up menu select the Tint Panel… option.
- The Tint Offset/Blend window appears:
- In the left panel, select one or more colours to modify by doing one of the following:
- Click on a single colour to select it.
- Select specific colours by using Ctrl (Windows/Linux) or ⌘ (macOS), or by using Shift + click.
- Select all the colours by pressing Ctrl + A (Windows/Linux) or ⌘ + A (macOS).
- At the bottom select the Preview option to see the colour change in the Camera view as you adjust it. This may not show if you cloned the palette but did not move it to the top of the palette list.
- Choose the Offset, Blend, or Mixer option:
- Offset: The colour selection can be adjusted using the HSV, RGB and Alpha sliders below.
- Blend: A colour can be chosen to add a tint to the selected colours based on the Amount slider.
- Mixer: A Base and Tint colour can be chosen to form a third colour swatch. Use the Base to Tint slider to mix the colours by different amounts.
- At any time all the adjustments can be cleared by selecting the Reset button at the bottom of the window.
- Select the Apply button to apply changes.
