If you cannot see the Onion Skin handles, there are a few things you can do to bring them back. Follow the suggestions below to restore the handles.
Option 1: Check which Onion Skin tool is activated
- In the Tools toolbar, confirm you are using the Show Onion Skin
button and not the Show Advanced Onion Skin
button, as the advanced version does not make use of the handlebars. You can read more in About Advanced Onion Skin.
Option 2: Check if the Onion Skin is set to frames or drawings
If your Onion Skin is set to drawings, you will not see the handles on the timeline. Do the following to switch the Onion Skin to frames:
- Go to the top menu and select View > Onion Skin.
- In the Onion Skin menu, check which version of the Onion Skin is selected:
- If Onion Skin by Drawings is active, select Onion Skin by Frames to switch it.
- The handlebars will show up in the Timeline view.
You can also use the Onion Skin view dropdown to switch between By Drawings and By Frames:
NOTE: See What’s the difference between using frames and drawings with the Onion Skin? to read more about the different types of Onion Skin modes. |
Option 3: Adjust the length of the handles using the Onion Skin buttons
- The handles might have gone beyond the timeline, making it difficult to grab them.
- In the Camera View toolbar, locate the Onion Skin Reduce One Next Drawing
button, and the Onion Skin Reduce One Previous Drawing
button.
- Click on either button until the handles can be seen on the timeline. It may take several clicks if the handles were really stretched out.
