Storyboard Pro is predominantly a software for creating 2D visuals, however it also allows the use of 3D space. One of the things that can be created in this space is a multiplane setup, which is a scene consisting of 2D layers positioned at different depths from the camera.

About multiplanes
Even though 2D artwork is flat, it can still exist in a 3D space as a plane, and can be moved away or towards the viewer on the Z-axis. When this is done in 2D animation, it is called a ‘multiplane’. This means that we can create a feeling of 3D depth even when using flat, 2D planes.
If you create a camera movement across this type of setup, you will naturally see the layers moving apart at different speeds due to the variation in the layer positions on the Z-axis. This is known as a ‘parallax'.

To create a multiplane setup in Storyboard Pro, you will need to switch to the 3D scene workspace, then use specific features to position the 2D layers on the Z-axis.
