Harmony’s drawing layers are designed to keep your artwork separate, which means that, by default, you can usually only edit the artwork on the currently selected layer. However, there are ways to edit more than one drawing layer at a time.
Option 1: Use the Apply to Visible Drawing Layers button
- In the Tools toolbar, select one of the following tools:
- Select
tool (Alt/Option + S)
- Cutter
tool (Alt/Option + T)
- Paint Bucket
tools (Alt + I)
- Select
- In the Tools Properties view, locate and click on the Apply to Visible Drawing Layers
button.
- Hide any drawing layers you do not want to edit.
- Use your chosen tool to edit the artwork on all the visible drawing layers.
| NOTE: Activating Apply to Visible Drawing Layers will not activate/deactivate it for every tool that has the setting. If you switch to another tool, you will need to activate/deactivate the button again. |
Option 2: Selecting specific layers in the Timeline view
Use this technique if you do not have many layers and only want to edit specific layers. This option also gives you a few more tool options for editing layers, but you risk losing your layer selection if you accidentally deselect them.
- In the Timeline view, use Shift or Ctrl/Cmd and click to select multiple layers.
- In the Tools toolbar, select one of the following tools:
- Select
tool (Alt/Option + S)
- Cutter
tool (Alt/Option + T)
- Perspective
tool (Alt/Option + 0)
- Envelope
tool
- Eraser
tool (Alt/Option + E)
- Paint Bucket
tools (Alt + I)
- Select
- Use your chosen tool to edit the artwork on all the selected drawing layers.
| WARNING: Remember to deselect layers, or to deactivate buttons when you are done. Failing to do so can result in the unwanted editing of multiple layers. |
