Select the layer you wish to convert from vector to bitmap.
Do one of the following:
In the top menu, go to Layer > Convert to Bitmap Layer…
Right click on the layer and choose Convert to Bitmap Layer…
The Choose Bitmap Layer Resolution dialog box opens:
Adjust the following as needed:
Project Resolution: your project’s resolution in pixels.
Canvas Size: In this section you can choose the size of your bitmap canvas by either changing the percentage of the project resolution, or by changing the pixel amount. Clicking on the lock icon will unlink the values and allow you to change them without constraint.
Pixel density: The final resolution of the art. The canvas size will still look the same, but the quantity of pixels within it will change.
Click OK to commit the changes.
A warning dialog will appear to warn you that the artwork on the layer will be constrained to the selected canvas size, and anything outside of it will be cropped.
Check the box if you do not want to see this warning again. Click OK.
The layer is converted to bitmap and it now has a blue bar on the left indicating it is a bitmap layer.
WARNING: Converting a vector layer to bitmap will cause it to lose all its vector information. Converting the layer back to vector will not restore its vector editing capabilities.
Option 2: Converting a bitmap layer to vector
In the layers window, select the bitmap layer you want to convert.
Do one of the following:
In the top menu, go to Layer > Convert to Vector Layer.
Right click on the layer and choose Convert to Vector Layer.
The layer converts to vector and now has a grey bar on the left indicating it is a vector layer.
NOTE: Converting a bitmap layer to a vector one will place the bitmap image into a vector envelope, similar to an imported bitmap or a textured vector brush. The artwork can be edited by vector tools, but not as separate lines or shapes like an original vector layer.
