How can I keep the position of a gradient consistent over multiple, separate objects?

Updated on

When using gradients in Storyboard Pro, we may want to have a gradient appear seamless over many shapes. This can be tricky to do with separate adjustments. Here is the method to create a consistent gradient over different shapes.

Step 1: Create and select the gradient

  1. Create or pick a gradient swatch from the colour palette. To know more about creating gradients, please see How do I create a linear gradient? and How do I create a radial gradient?
  2. In the Tools toolbar, select the Paint tool and fill the areas with the gradient in the Camera or Stage view.

  1. In the Tools toolbar or the Paint tool properties, choose the Select by Colour tool and click on one of the filled gradient shapes to select all the areas that contain the gradient.

Step 2: Modify the gradient properties

  1. In the Tools toolbar, select the Edit Gradient/Texture tool. The orange outline will become blue, and the editing modifier will appear.
  2. Moving, rotating and resizing the modifier will affect all the selected objects as one. Changes will apply on all the selected areas as if they were a single object. See Using the Edit Gradient - Texture Tool for more information.
