If you’ve exported an image sequence or movie, you may find that you have misplaced the export location of your renders. The following instructions will help you locate your exports.
Option 1: Check the file path in the export dialog box
If you’ve rendered frames using anything other than the Render Write Nodes option, you can check the related export dialog box to find the file path. If you used the Write nodes to render, go down to Step 2 or 3.
- Go to File > Export > and choose the export option you used when exporting the lost renders files.
- An export dialog box will appear.
Find the Output section and the Browse button.
- Place your mouse inside the field to the left of the Browse button and highlight the path. Copy it using the hotkey, Ctrl + C (Windows/Linux) or ⌘ + C (macOS).
- Based on your operating system, do one of the following:
- In macOS, use the hotkeys ⌘ + Shift + G to bring up the Go To Folder. Paste the path using ⌘ + P and hit Enter.
- Open Windows Explorer and paste the path in the address bar that can be found near the top. Hit Enter.
- The exported files will be listed in your file manager.
| NOTE: This option will only work if the scene you are checking is the scene you exported the lost renders from. |
Option 2: If you did a Write node export, check the Harmony scene folder
The Harmony scene folder contains the default folder for renders that have used the Write node to export.
- Using Finder (macOS) or Windows Explorer, locate the specific folder of the Harmony scene you exported from and open it.
- Inside the scene folder, find the folder labelled ‘frames’ and open it:
- If the Write node was left on the default export location, you will find your renders inside this folder. If you do not see the renders, follow the next step.
Option 3: Check the Write node file paths
If you used the Write node to export, it’s possible the export location in the node was changed. In this case, you can check the Write node for the location.
- Locate the Write node in the Node view. It can typically be found underneath the bottom-most Composite, next to the Display node.
- Click on the yellow square on the left side of the Write node.
- The Layer Properties window will appear:
- Locate the Images Folder and/or the Movie Folder field.
- Place your mouse inside the Image/Movie Folder field and highlight the path.
- Copy the path using the hotkeys Ctrl + C (Windows/Linux) or ⌘ + C (macOS).
