Option 1: Change the Perspective view clipping planes

If your 3D model is disappearing when you are using the normal interface zoom, it is likely you are using the Perspective view. If this is the case, follow these steps.

  1. In the Perspective view, click on the menu in the top left corner.
  2. In the menu, select View > Clipping Planes…

  1. The Perspective View Clipping Planes dialog box opens:

  1. Adjust the following based on your needs:
    • Near Clip Plane: Decrease this number if the object is disappearing when you zoom in.
    • Far Clip Plane: Increase this value if the object is disappearing when you zoom out.
  2. Press OK when you’re done and test the zoom on the 3D model. Keep adjusting the clipping planes until you are satisfied.
NOTE: Perspective view clipping plane changes are NOT included in the undo list.

Option 2: Change the camera node clipping planes

If your 3D model is disappearing when you are moving the camera, follow these steps.

    • Far Clip Plane: Increase this value if the object is disappearing when the camera  zooms out.
  2. Press Close when you’re done and test the zoom on the 3D model. Keep adjusting the clipping planes until you are satisfied.

Q&A

Question:

Why can’t I find the clipping plane settings?

Answers:
  1. If adjusting the Perspective view clipping planes, make sure the Perspective view is selected and that you are using the Perspective View menu to access the settings.
  2. If adjusting the camera clipping planes, make sure you are not trying to adjust the settings on the camera peg. They must be adjusted in the actual Camera node’s settings.
