How do I load and manage scripts?

Updated on

Storyboard Pro has a multitude of prepackaged scripts available for use. Some productions also create custom scripts that might need to be installed. The following directions will show you can add and manage scripts.

Step 1: Add the Scripting toolbar

To access the scripts, we need to add the Scripting toolbar.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • From the top menu, select Windows > Toolbars > Scripting.
    • On any toolbar, right-click and select Scripting.

Step 2: Adding scripts to the Scripting toolbar

  1. On the Scripting toolbar, select the Manage Scriptsbutton.
  2. The Script Manager dialog box will appear:

  1. In the Files list, select the desired script.
  2. The available functions within the script will appear in the Functions list in the middle column. Select the function you wish to add.
  3. Select the white arrow between the Functions list and the In Toolbar list.

  1. The function will be added to the In Toolbar list:

  1. Repeat steps one to six to add additional scripts as necessary.
  2. Click the Apply button to add the script/s to the Scripting toolbar.
  3. At the bottom click the OK button to exit the window.
  4. You will now see the functions on the toolbar, represented as an icon.

Step 3: Customizing script icons

Some scripts have a unique icon but most will default to a nondescript gear . You can customize these icons to make it easier to find the function you need.

  1. Open the Script Manager dialog box.
  2. In the In Toolbar or Functions list, select the script you want to customize.
  3. Under the Files list, select the Customize Icon button.

  1. Locate the image of the new icon, and click OK. The icon can be any of the following file types:
    • .png
    • .jpg
    • .xpm
    • .tvg
  2. A preview of the new icon will appear in the In Toolbar or Functions list, as well as in the Scripting toolbar.

Step 4: Organising scripts in the toolbar

  1. Open the Script Manager dialog box.
  2. In the In Toolbar list, select the script you want to move.
  3. Click on the white arrows on the right to move a script up or down in the list.

  1. Click Apply or OK, and the toolbar will be reorganised as selected.

Step 5: Removing scripts from the Scripting toolbar

  1. Open the Script Manager dialog box.
  2. In the In Toolbar list, select the script you want to remove.
  3. Between the Functions and In Toolbar list will be a white arrow facing left. Click on the white arrow.

  1. The script will no longer be listed in the In Toolbar list, nor will it be visible on the Scripting toolbar.
